USL’s Sacramento Republic FC Launch ‘Resilient’ Secondary Kit

With their 10th anniversary season in full swing, USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC are adding another kit to their closet.

On Tuesday, May 16, the club unveiled its new secondary “Resilient Kit,” made by Danish sportswear manufacturer Hummel. “With a refreshed design of the club’s first white jersey that has evolved throughout its history, the new kit features an updated, resilient red sash symbolic of the path the club has traveled, and where it plans to go in the next decade,” reads the announcement on the club’s website.

A red sash cuts across the front of the white jersey, bordered with two narrower dark red stripes. The brighter shade has been dubbed Resilient Red, which “symbolizes the Indomitable Club’s future as it continues to find new ways to stand out, both in the community and on the field.” The darker red is borrowed from the California state flag and harkens back to 2014, when Republic FC won the USL Cup in its first year of existence.

The kit also features metallic silver tones on the side panels, sleeve cuffs and the back half of the collar as a nod to tin, a traditional 10th anniversary gift. The Hummel chevrons on the sleeves are also silver, and Republic FC’s 10th anniversary logo appears on the back collar.

The Resilient Kit’s name is not only a nod to its most prominent color, but it also reflects a core value that has been instilled in every aspect of the club since its first season: Indomitable, a story like no other. The Indomitable Club reflects the spirit of the region and is defined by its resiliency. The history of triumph over tragedy, courage in the face of a challenge, and the connected community of the city have become the markers of Sacramento, as well as the identity of Republic FC.

Like the club’s primary “Legacy Kit” introduced in March, the secondary kit will contain a sleeve patch promoting the national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which callers across the United States can access by dialing 988.

The Resilient Kit will make its on-pitch debut tonight (Wednesday, May 17) when Republic FC travels to Irvine, California, to face state rivals Orange County SC. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. PT.
