All thirty Major League Baseball teams will wear green caps during games played over the weekend of Friday, May 19, through Sunday, May 21, 2023.
The caps are being worn in honour of Armed Forces Day, celebrated in the United States on the third Saturday in each May — a time “where citizens unite and honour military heroes for their patriotic service in support of the U.S.” It was established by President Harry S. Truman in 1949 to honour military members and their families.
Take a look:
The caps are green all over, with the team logo on the front in various shades of green but most prominently in dark green placed in front of a re-coloured flag of the United States. On the right side of the cap is a black shield patch featuring an eagle with wings out on a yellow circle with alternating vertical red and white stripes and white stars arched above — below is “OUR NATION’S FINEST” in yellow. The New Era logo is in yellow on the left side, and the MLB silhouette is on the back in dark green and green with yellow fill.

The Toronto Blue Jays, the lone non-U.S. team in the league, will go without the American symbolism on their cap — the flag from the front and the patch on the side are both gone — but will still celebrate Armed Forces Day, despite it being the Victoria Day long weekend (a holiday created to honour the late Queen Victoria) in Toronto this weekend.
Here’s a look at all thirty 2023 MLB Armed Forces Day caps; as you’ll see, aside from Baltimore’s alternate “O’s” logo, each club is going with their usual cap logo on the front of a green crown.
Major League Baseball will donate 100% of the licensed royalties from the sale of Armed Forces Day On-Field Authentic Collection apparel to support MLB Charities military programs. This season, donations will benefit Blue Star Families, Code of Support Foundation, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), The Mission Continues, USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team, and Wounded Warrior Project.
