Arsenal’s New Home Kit Marks 20th Anniversary of Invincibles Season — Plus Other European Unveilings

English Premier League side Arsenal FC is marking the 20th anniversary of one of the most legendary seasons European football has ever seen with their new home kit for 2023-24.

In 2003-04, Arsenal won the Premier League without losing a match all season (26 wins, 12 draws, 0 losses). The 2023-24 home kit, made by Adidas, “draws on the spirit of The Invincibles team” with white raglan sleeves complementing the red body — which also features a tonal zigzag pattern — and gold detailing, including trim on the red sleeve cuffs, the Adidas logo on the chest and the Adidas shoulder stripes. The club crest is rendered in red and gold.

The side panels on the jersey are white, as is the taping that runs down each side and across the back hem. That taping is embossed with a series of Ws and Ds, representing the 2003-04 squad’s record.

Arsenal’s women’s team will debut the kits on Saturday, May 27, when they play their final FA Women’s Super League match of the season against Aston Villa. The men’s team will wear the new kits on Sunday, May 28, as they wrap up their Premier League season against Wolverhampton.

RB LEIPZIG – Home Kit

German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are looking up with their 2023-24 home kit, made by Nike, which they released on Friday and will wear Saturday in their final match of the season against Schalke 04. Like the away kit they released last week, the home kit features a red arrow pattern on the sleeves that “highlights the direction we want to continue in the future: upwards!” The rest of the jersey is white, with a red Nike logo and a full color club crest and sponsor logo.

ACF FIORENTINA – Home Kit

Italian Serie A side ACF Fiorentina . The purple home kit features a tonal diagonal pattern of “intertwining lilies … creating a DNA-like effect,” according to the club. Lilies have been a symbol of ACF Fiorentina since its founding and for the city of Florence since the Middle Ages. The kits also feature a white collar with a solid purple insert at the front, white trim on the sleeve cuffs and hem, and solid purple side panels. Thirteen lilies are printed inside the collar symbolizing the 11 players on the field, the fans (“our 12th man”) and former captain Davide Astori, who passed away in 2018.

GIRONA FC – Home Kit

Promoted to La Liga for the first time in 2022-23, Girona FC will be sticking around in Spain’s top flight in style thanks to their 2023-24 home kit made by Puma. The front of the kit is red with vertical white stripes positioned so the red stripes in between vary in width. The sleeves are solid red with blue cuffs, while the V-neck collar is blue. The back has a solid red panel for legibility of names and numbers.

STADE RENNAIS – Home Kit

French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais is reaching into its history for inspiration for its 2023-24 home kit, made by Puma. The new kit retains the club’s usual red and black home color scheme, but adds a tonal pattern of Celtic symbols on the front. “They refer to a Breton story that oscillates between magic and reality, well known to the inhabitants of the region,” according to the club. The symbols represent:

  • the mythical forest of Brocéliande located west of Rennes, the heart of Brittany.
  • the tree of life that embodies the forces of nature to create balance and harmony.
  • ermines, the emblem of Brittany, symbols of purity and honour.

The V-neck polo collar on the shirt is black, and there’s black striping on the sleeve cuffs. The new shirts will make their debut on Saturday, May 27, when Stade Rennais host AC Monaco in their last home game of the Ligue 1 season.

AFC AJAX – Away Kit

Meanwhile in the Netherlands, Dutch Eredivisie powerhouses AFC Ajax are riding the wave into 2023-24 in their new away kit made by Adidas. The base of the shirt is white — a color they haven’t used for an away kit since 1988-89 — with a light pattern of turquoise and pink waves all over the front and sleeves. Other details on the shirt are navy blue, including names and numbers on the back, side/hem taping, sponsor logos, Adidas shoulder stripes, and three crosses on the back collar lifted from the Amsterdam city flag. The club crest is rendered in monochromatic navy blue.

PSV EINDHOVEN – Away Kit

Ajax’s Eredivisie rivals PSV Eindhoven are going for a vintage look with their 2023-24 away kit, made by Puma, as they mark the club’s 110th anniversary. The shirt is mainly an off-white “champagne” color, with broad burgundy sleeve cuffs. The back half of the V-neck collar is navy blue while the front half is burgundy with navy blue insert at the front. The Puma logo on the chest is embroidered in gold, while the sponsor logos on the chest and upper back are navy blue.
