Although we’ve known for more than a year that the Philadelphia Eagles will wear Kelly green throwback uniforms this season, it was unclear what era they would honor.
After all, the Eagles wore Kelly green from 1935 through a move to midnight green in 1996 and featured several different designs along the way.
But thanks to multiple retail leaks of the jerseys on Friday evening, we can confirm Philadelphia will throw back to the Randall Cunningham era, which spanned from 1985-95.
The throwback jerseys feature white block numbers with a black stroke, complementary TV numbers and the Eagles’ 1987-95 alternate logo on the sleeves.
They will be paired with a Kelly green helmet with silver wings outlined in white and a silver facemask, as well as silver pants with a Kelly green and white striping pattern.
The look will likely be complete with white socks that feature a pair of Kelly green stripes, though we won’t know for certain until the uniforms are officially unveiled.
This will mark the Eagles’ second time in Kelly green throwback uniforms, as they took it back to 1960-63 for the 2010 season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Those featured solid gray wings on a Kelly green helmet, a Kelly green jersey with white numbers, TV numbers on the sleeves and white pants with two Kelly green stripes.
Philadelphia, which dropped that game by a score of 27-20, also painted the field at Lincoln Financial Field with a throwback design that afternoon.
Given Friday’s leak, expect the Eagles to officially unveil the 1985-95 throwback uniforms and announce in what game(s) they’ll be worn sooner rather than later.
