Canadian Men Debut New Away, Third Kits in Concacaf Nations League Finals

The Canadian men’s national soccer team quietly debuted new away and third kits this past week during the finals of the Concacaf Nations League in Las Vegas.

Canada wore their new white away kits in a 2-0 semifinal win over Panama on Thursday, June 15, and then broke out their new black third kits in a 2-0 loss to the United States in the final on Saturday, June 18.

Both kits are based on Nike’s Strike III teamwear template. The away kit is solid white with little embellishment besides the pattern knit into the fabric. The third kit is solid black, with a tonal pattern more visible on the sleeves.

A new red home kit has also popped up for sale on various soccer store websites, and is expected to debut in the Concacaf Gold Cup when it kicks off later this month.

The red kit offers the best look at the tonal pattern on the sleeves of the Strike III template that involves curved intersecting lines. Inserts at the front and back of the collar are lighter than the red on the body, with the sleeves an even lighter red. There are also light red inserts under the arms and on the sides near the hem.

None of the new kits were available for purchase on Canada Soccer’s official online store at the time of publication.

These new kits come less than a year after Canadian fans were upset that Nike didn’t supply new jerseys for the men’s national team when they qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Instead, the men’s team wore the same kits they had worn throughout qualifying, with Nike saying Canada Soccer is “on a different kit development cycle” than other national teams it outfits.

Nike has, however, unveiled new kits for Canada’s women’s team to wear at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, coming up later this summer in Australia and New Zealand.

The Canadian men’s team plays its first match in the 2023 Gold Cup on Tuesday, June 27, at BMO Field in Toronto against either Guadeloupe or Guyana.
