Major League Soccer is celebrating the 4th of July this year with the help of one of Marvel’s most patriotic superheroes.
As part of the collaboration between MLS, Adidas and Marvel announced earlier this month, new Captain America-themed training jerseys have been introduced for 26 of the league’s 29 clubs.
The jerseys feature undulating red and white stripes curving around white stars on a blue background, emulating Captain America’s iconic shield. Clubs’ usual training kit sponsor logos are printed in gold with thick blue outlines. Club crests are rendered in gold and blue, as is the Adidas logo on the left chest.
“Through a blend of illustration and CGI, MLS, adidas and Marvel created a distinctive look that captures both the unique flavor of soccer fandom and nods to the classic comic book style.
“Unlocking a new era of sports fandom, MLS and Marvel’s legendary Super Heroes unite people of all backgrounds, and the collection showcases the League’s unique expression of the global game through fashion.”

Each jersey also has a blue crew neck collar and a jock tag with both the Adidas and Marvel logos.
MLS clubs will wear the jerseys prior to matches around the Independence day holiday.
Along with the jerseys, Adidas also released a new Captain America-themed ball. The ball features six panels with Captain America shields, while the white panels in between have light grey comic book art on them. There was no indication in the announcement if the ball would be used before or during matches.
Jerseys were not released for the three MLS clubs based in Canada: CF Montréal, Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
