Moroccan Women’s Team Gets New Home Kits for World Cup – Plus Other National Team Unveilings

After the country’s men’s team went all the way to the semifinals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Morocco’s women’s team will be looking to replicate that success this summer in Australia and New Zealand in new home kits manufactured by Puma.

The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) and Puma released the kits this week on social media. The shirt is solid red with diagonal tonal stripes across the front. The front half of the V-neck collar is green. The FRMF crest sits on the left chest, and the Puma logos on the right chest and the sleeves are gold. “Morocco” is spelled out in Arabic (المغرب) on the back collar.

The social media posts don’t explicitly explain the meaning of the tonal stripes on the front. But they could be claw marks in reference to the national team’s nickname, the Atlas Lionesses.

The video posted to Twitter (above) does show the red jersey paired with green shorts and red socks.

This summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup is the first one that the Atlas Lionesses have qualified for. They’ll play in Group H alongside Germany, Colombia and South Korea. Their first match in against Germany on July 24 at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

🇧🇬 BULGARIA – 100th Anniversary Home Kit 🇧🇬

Meanwhile in Europe, the Bulgarian Football Union is celebrating its 100th anniversary with special kits for the national team, manufactured by new partner Macron. The white kits feature gold striping around the sleeves and a gold polo collar. The Macron logos are gold, as are the names and numbers on the back and front of the shirt, while the national team crest — a lion inside a red shield, based on the Bulgarian coat of arms — is flanked by gold laurels.

The Bulgarian men’s team debuted the anniversary kits in Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Lithuania and Serbia. Against Lithuania, they wore their usual combination of white tops, green shorts and red socks — mimicking the Bulgarian flag — but they had to switch to white socks against Serbia to avoid a clash.

🇨🇩 DR CONGO – Home, Away and Third 🇨🇩

Earlier this month, the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA) unveiled new home, away and third kits for the Democratic Republic of the Congo national teams, manufactured by Umbro, and the men’s team debuted the home version in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon.

The home kit is royal blue, with a tonal pattern of swooping lines across the front and red streaks on the right sleeve. The away kit begins yellow at the shoulders and fades to red toward the hem to blend in with the red shorts. The third kit is white with a blue crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs; blue and yellow tapered brush strokes run across the chest while a red brush stroke from the left shoulder under the national team crest.
