The Denver Broncos announced on Thursday they will unveil their new alternate helmets on July 25 and give fans an up-close look at the design during training camp on July 29 and Aug. 17.
The teasers continue to suggest the helmets will be white with a white facemask, navy blue/orange/navy blue stripe down the middle and the throwback bucking bronco logo in Denver’s current color scheme on both sides.
The new helmet must be worn with the Broncos’ orange Color Rush uniform, so it would make sense to share the same overall design as the helmet it is replacing, as they previously swapped the modern decals on their standard navy blue helmet with the classic stripes and logo.
Denver has not had a white helmet in its 63-year history, instead opting for brown lids from 1960-61, orange from 1962-66, academy blue from 1967-78, royal blue from 1979-96 and navy blue since 1997.
The Broncos are also scheduled to announce which game(s) they’ll wear their new alternate helmet on Aug. 17. They have worn their Color Rush uniforms once every season since they were introduced in 2016, but teams are permitted to wear their second helmets twice each year.
That said, Denver is one several teams set to unveil an alternate or throwback helmet or uniform in the coming weeks, including – but not limited to – the Indianapolis Colts on July 17 and Tennessee Titans on July 23. We’ll have more as additional dates are announced.
