Although they weren’t supposed to be revealed until Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles unveiled their Kelly green throwback uniforms on Saturday night after official images leaked online.
As expected, the uniforms replicate the Randall Cunningham era, with Kelly green jerseys featuring white block numbers outlined in black and the Eagles’ 1987-95 alternate logo on the sleeves.
The uniforms are complete with Kelly green helmets with silver wings outlined in white and a silver facemask, silver pants with a Kelly green and white striping pattern and white socks with two Kelly green stripes.
This will be just the second time that Philadelphia has worn Kelly green throwback uniforms since moving to midnight green in 1996, joining the 2010 season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
It’s unclear when the uniforms will be worn, though they can be worn up to three times this season. The Eagles will presumably confirm those dates on Monday at 9 a.m. ET, when they were originally set to be unveiled.
“I know how well we sell retro products and retro jerseys,” director of merchandise Emily McNichol said. “For the fans to be able to finally have that dream of Jalen Hurts wearing a retro jersey come true, I am looking forward to checking that box with our fans.”
That said, this marks the final throwback uniform unveiling of the 2023 season, as the Eagles join the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.
The Cleveland Browns also introduced a new white helmet they’ll wear with their 1946 throwback uniforms, while the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions added a second lid that they’ll wear with their Color Rush sets.
The Indianapolis Colts revealed a new alternate uniform, which includes an Anvil black helmet with blue jerseys and pants, while the Arizona Cardinals have unveiled an entirely new uniform set for 2023.
Lastly, the Carolina Panthers made several smaller updates – including their shade of blue – as part of a move to Nike’s new Vapor F.U.S.E. template, which will be worn by most of the NFL this season.
