France’s top-flight domestic football league, Ligue 1, kicked off its 2023-24 season on Friday, August 11, with OGC Nice and Lille OSC playing to a 1-1 draw. This season, Ligue 1 has shrunk from 20 to 18 teams, with four teams being relegated last season while only two were promoted from Ligue 2.
