The Boston Bruins will celebrate their centennial season milestone with a set of commemorative new uniforms for 2023-24.
A specially designed new home, road, and alternate uniform will be worn for the entirety of the 23-24 season, a temporary replacement of the usual uniform set the club has been wearing for the past 15 years. The Bruins are expected (but not 100% certain) to return to their usual home, road, and alternate uniforms for 2024-25.
All three of the new uniforms will be unveiled in the evening on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Bruins’ Centennial Takeoff event at Logan Airport’s jetBlue hangar. A limited amount of tickets to this event will be made available to the public at a later date.
There’s not too much out there about what the new uniforms will look like quite yet — the Bruins did unveil a special centennial spoked-B crest which combined a couple of versions of the logo into one single design; it is presumed this logo will be worn on the chest of the new look. The Bruins also announced that their previously-released 100th anniversary logo will be worn on the right shoulder of these jerseys.
The plan from the club is to wear the new home and road set for most of the 2023-24 season and then break out the alternate uniform for games against their fellow Original Six opponents and then for additional special occasions. Forgive me for pointing out the obvious here, but the fact that the alternate will be reserved almost exclusively for Original Six games suggests it will be heavily throwback inspired.
Boston joined the National Hockey League as an expansion club alongside the Montreal Maroons during the 1924-25 season. The Bruins were the first non-Canadian-based club to join the NHL and were the lone team from outside the country in the league until the New York Americans and Pittsburgh Penguins came along one year later (the other U.S.-based “Original Six” teams – Chicago, Detroit, and the Rangers, all entered the league together in 1926-27).

The Bruins are the third NHL team to celebrate a centennial season following the Montreal Canadiens who did so over two seasons 2008-09 and 2009-10, and the Toronto Maple Leafs alongside the NHL’s own centennial season in 2017-18.
