The Arizona football program recently unveiled new Military Appreciation uniforms, which will be worn against Utah on Nov. 18.
They are effectively the home version of the all-white Military Appreciation uniforms the Wildcats have worn for the last two seasons, albeit with blue jerseys featuring white and gray digitial camouflage numbers and sleeve caps.
The uniforms – which were photographed at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in southeast Tucson – are complete with Arizona’s standard white helmets and new gray pants, which feature the “Cats” script on the right hip.
This is the fifth military-themed uniform for Arizona, which also wore U.S.S. Arizona-inspired uniforms against Hawai’i in 2016 to mark the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and revived those helmets for their game at the Rainbow Warriors in 2019.
The Wildcats also wore “Battle Gray” alternate uniforms for their Military Appreciation Game against Colorado in 2020. That look included a “DM” decal on the back of their navy blue helmet as a nod to the aforementioned Air Force base.
Arizona is just 1-3 in those games, including a loss to the Utes in the debut of the all-white Military Appreciation uniforms in 2021. It’s unclear if those will remain in the rotation for a road game, return in a future season or be shelved for good, however.
