As part of their 35th anniversary celebration, the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday afternoon unveiled their new Classic Edition uniforms, which will be worn for at least eight games this season.
“Throughout our history, the Hornets have been recognized for fashionable uniform designs, and we know our fans will be excited to see the look that our team wore from 1997-2002 back on the court in Charlotte,” team president and vice chairman Fred Whitfield said.
The teal uniforms match the franchise’s 35th anniversary logo that was revealed in May with light blue, royal blue, green and purple double pinstripes on the jerseys, which prominently display a throwback “Charlotte” wordmark across the chest.
The jerseys also feature a crossover v-neck design with purple accents around the collar and arm holes, as well as purple and white side panels that extend to the solid color shorts, which have the Hornets’ 1988-2002 alternate logo on the left leg and a multi-color waistband.
As mentioned, the uniforms – which, like the rest of Charlotte’s uniform lineup, are complete with Jordan Brand’s Jumpman logo on the right shoulder and left hip – will be worn in eight games this season, which are expected to feature a throwback court design, as well.
This marks the fourth Classic Edition uniform for the Hornets, including a teal set based on their 1990-97 road design in 2017-18, a white set based on their 1990-97 home design in 2018-19 and a purple set based on their 1994-97 alternate design in 2019-20.
