With their 125th anniversary coming up in December 2024, Italian Serie A giants AC Milan are letting fans have their say on elements of a special edition kit.
On Monday, September 4, the club announced that it would allow supporters the chance to help design a special kit marking their 125th anniversary, which falls on December 16, 2024. The kit will be worn in a competitive fixture by both AC Milan’s men’s and women’s first teams, and fans will have the chance to purchase the kit as well.
Throughout September, registered fans have the chance to vote in four separate online polls, each determining a specific element of the anniversary kit. The first poll, which runs until September 10, is to determine how thick the club’s iconic red-and-black stripes will be on the kit.
Fans who vote in the polls can also win exclusive prizes, including Puma merchandise and “a unique experience together with AC Milan First Team players at Milanello.”
AC Milan was founded on December 16, 1899, by Herbert Kilpin, an English expatriate. “We will be a team of devils. Our colours will be red like fire and black to invoke fear in our opponents!” he purportedly said at the time. By May 1901, they had won their first Italian championship, defeating Genoa 3-0 at Ponte Carrega.
