FC Barcelona Channels Inspiration, Creativity for New Third Kit – Plus More European Unveilings

Defending Spanish La Liga champions FC Barcelona are channeling inspiration and creativity for their 2023-24 third kit, made by Nike.

The kit is a light aqua color with a pattern of blue and red streaks covering the front, back and sleeves. “Its design highlights everything Barça represent, the history, the playing style, and the young talents formed in La Masia, whose journey can be an inspiration for all,” Barça says on its website.

The club crest and sponsor logos on the front of the shirt are rendered in black. Inserts at the collarbone are red on the right side and blue on the left; those colors are reversed on the sleeve cuffs.

Barça debuted the kit in their match against CA Osasuna Sunday, September 3. The design of the kit will also form the basis of the second jerseys for Barça’s basketball, handball, futsal and roller hockey teams.

ATLÉTICO DE MADRID – Third

Fellow La Liga side Atlético de Madrid is going green with their 2023-24 third kit, made by Nike. The green base color of the kit is “inspired by and values the concept of sustainability,” according to the club’s website (translated to English by Google). Black trim appears on the collar and side panels, while the sleeve cuffs are black with white streaks. Printed inside the collar is the motto “Play Green. Atleti”, promoting sustainability projects undertaken by the club and its foundation. The club crest and Nike swoosh on the chest are made using Nike Grind, a process that recycles old shoes into new material.

SSC NAPOLI – Third

In Italy, defending Serie A champions SSC Napoli are drawing on the strength of a faraway culture with their 2023-24 third kits, made by EA7. The black base of the kit features green Maori tattoo designs on the sleeves and chest as a “symbol of union, stamina, strength and power,” according to Napoli’s online store listing. The sponsor logos on the chest and sleeve are gold, while on the lower back is white. The club crest is also gold, and it appears as an embossed pattern all over the kit.

US SALERNITANA 1919 – Third

Napoli’s Serie A counterparts US Salernitana 1919 are going into dark mode with their 2023-24 third kits, made by Zeus. The shirt features a black base with grey and maroon vertical streaks down the front. There is maroon trim around the sides of the collar and the sleeve cuffs, as well as inserts at the hem. The kit also has a wave pattern knit into the fabric.

FULHAM FC – Third

After cranking up the volume on their pink away kits for 2023-24, Premier League side Fulham are toning things down for their third kit, made by Adidas. The kit still has pink, but uses a much paler shade and only as an accent color on the black base. The front of the shirt features a design of hexagonal shapes with lines running through them that we’ve seen on other Adidas-outfitted clubs across Europe this season. The raglan sleeves are solid black, as is a panel on the back for name and number legibility.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION – Third

As they make their first foray into the UEFA Europa League this year, Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion will have their home city’s most famous landmark on their shirts. The club’s new third kit, made by Nike, fades from white at the top to turquoise at the bottom, where a painted illustration of the Royal Pavilion is found. The shirt also has black stripes down each shoulder and black panels down the sides. The club crest is rendered in black and white with a turquoise border.

SV DARMSTADT 98 – Away

Meanwhile in Germany, newly promoted Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 have unveiled their 2023-24 away kit, made by Craft. The shirt is predominantly white, with a broad blue brush stroke running vertically down the center of the front of the shirt. The brush stroke effect is also applied to the blue sleeve cuffs, while the V-neck collar is solid blue.

TOULOUSE FC – Third

In France, Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC debuted their new third kits, also made by Craft, in a match against Clermont Foot 63 on Sunday, September 3. The white base of the kit is covered in light pink and purple numbers that are shaped into diamonds. These numbers represent nine different departments of the administrative region of Occitania, where Toulouse is located. Supporters who buy the shirt can also get a full-color version of the diamond-number representing their home department applied to the sleeve.
