After wearing a helmet decal in his honor during the preseason, the Cleveland Browns added a Jim Brown memorial patch to their jerseys ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Browns will wear the patch – which features Brown’s No. 32 in white block numbers above his signature in orange – in every game this season except when they don their throwback uniforms, which include a 1946 patch on the left shoulder and will paired with a new white helmet.

Presumably, the patch will be mostly white and include brown block numbers – which match the team’s uniform design during Brown’s playing days – when Cleveland wears its standard white road uniforms this season.

Brown, who passed away in May at the age of 87, is widely considered the greatest running back of all-time, as he rushed for a franchise-record 12,312 yard and 106 touchdowns during his nine-year career, which spanned from 1957-65.

He earned first-team All-Pro honors eight times, was a three-time league MVP, led the Browns to their most recent NFL championship in 1964 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

As we mentioned in our season preview, Cleveland painted the jersey patch design on both sidelines at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns will also hold a halftime ceremony for Brown, which includes a video tribute and season ticket holders waving a flag with the patch design on the field.
