After previously swapping the decals and facemask on their standard blue helmets, the New York Giants announced they will instead wear their navy blue throwback helmets with their all-white Color Rush uniforms during Sunday night’s game at the Buffalo Bills (8:20 p.m. ET on NBC).

The Color Rush uniforms, which were introduced in 2016, are modeled after what the Giants wore on the road from 1980-99, with navy blue numbers outlined in red and a traditional navy blue and red striping pattern on the collar, cuffs and down the sides of the pants.

The navy blue helmets, meanwhile, returned for two games last season alongside the home version of their 1980-99 throwback uniforms. They feature an underlined “Giants” wordmark on both sides, a single red stripe down the center and a white facemask.

New York is 1-7 in its Color Rush uniforms over the last seven seasons but 1-0-1 in the navy blue helmets since they returned last year, so perhaps this is an attempt to turn their luck around just as much as it is to make the look historically accurate.

This marks the only time the Giants will wear their Color Rush uniforms this season, while the home version of their 1980-99 throwback uniforms will return on Oct. 22 against the Washington Commanders and Dec. 11 against the Green Bay Packers.

On the other side, the Bills will counter with their own Color Rush set, which features red jerseys, pants and socks with their standard white helmets. Buffalo is 7-2 in this look since it debuted during the 2015 season, including a three-game winning streak.
