ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals Ready to Set Sail with Three New Jerseys

The ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals are ready to set sail on their 2023-24 regular season with new three new jerseys unveiled this week.

The Admirals gave fans their first look at the new uniforms, made by Athletic Knit, on Thursday, October 12, during a party at the Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, Virginia.

The team’s new white jersey features the Admiral’s logo — an anchor surrounded by five stars on a pentagonal shield — on the chest. The sleeves have navy blue upper arm panels that house one-color white numbers and broad yellow stripes with silver trim around the elbows. The shoulder yokes are white with a navy blue anchor patch, and they protrude into the upper arm panels slightly, similar to the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights or Detroit Red Wings. The hem is yellow with a navy blue stripe, while the collar is navy blue with silver trim and a yellow insert at the front.

“I like saying, ‘When you look good, you play good,'” defenseman Darick Louis-Jean told local television station 13NewsNow. “Last season, it didn’t go that well, like we wanted it to be. This year, just having new jerseys, [it’s] just like having a fresh start.”

ECHL teams wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road until the All-Star Game break in January, at which point they switch to dark at home at white on the road. During the playoffs, they switch back to white at home and dark on the road.

The Admirals’ dark jersey uses the same template as the white sweater, with a navy blue base, yellow upper arm panels with navy blue numbers, white emblems on the shoulder and chest, and white and silver sleeve stripes. The hem is yellow with a white stripe, and the collar is yellow with grey trim and a white front insert.

The yellow alternate jersey has five navy blue stripes across the midsection and underneath a navy blue circle with “757” in white overtop, which is a reference to Norfolk’s area code. Five navy blue stripes also adorn each shoulder. The collar is navy blue with a yellow stripe through the middle.

All three jerseys have a Rivers Casino ad patch on the right shoulder.

Aside from the new jerseys, the Admirals are also celebrating their recently announced affiliation with the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. They’ll also continue to have players in the Carolina Hurricanes’ farm system on their roster.

The Admirals open their 2023-24 ECHL campaign on Friday, October 20, when they visit the Savannah Ghost Pirates. Their home opener is on Wednesday, October 25, against the Worcester Railers.
