The Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers announced this week they’ll be wearing throwback uniforms during their respective games on Thanksgiving Day.

This marks the first time since 2020 that the Lions will wear their throwback threads on Thanksgiving, as they’ve been reserved for the final home game of the season in each of the last two years.

The uniforms, which feature plain silver helmets, Honolulu blue jerseys and silver pants, have been worn just once against Thursday’s opponent, the Green Bay Packers, a 37-30 win on Jan. 9, 2022.

Of course, that doesn’t include the 1994, 2001 or 2003 seasons, when Detroit wore similar uniforms against Green Bay at home, as the jerseys included a darker shade of blue.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, will be outfitted for the second consecutive Thanksgiving in their throwback uniforms, which feature white helmets, blue jerseys with stars on the shoulders and white pants.

This look, which mimics their original design, was worn every Thanksgiving from 2004-12, but only returned in last year’s 28-20 win over the New York Giants after the NFL did away with its one-helmet rule.

Dallas is 0-2 against Thursday’s opponent, the Washington Commanders, in the home version of the throwback uniforms, including losses in 2005 and 2012, the latter coming on Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, Thursday night’s game against the Seahawks marks the fifth straight game in Seattle that the 49ers will be in the road version of their 1994 throwback uniforms, which feature drop shadows numbers, three sleeve stripes and white pants.

San Francisco is 2-2 in those contests, including 1-0 when Seattle wears Action green jerseys like it will on Thursday. It’s unclear at this time if the Seahawks will pair them with Action green or navy blue pants, as they did in their last meeting.

Lastly, all six teams playing on Thursday will wear a patch on their jerseys in honor of late Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster John Madden, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 85.

A coin with Madden’s silhouette on one side (heads) and a six-legged turducken on the reverse side (tails) will be used for each coin toss, while a “John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration” stencil will be placed on the sidelines at Ford Field, AT&T Stadium and Lumen Field.

Kickoff of Thursday’s games begins with the Lions hosting the Packers at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX, Cowboys hosting the Commanders at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Seahawks hosting the 49ers at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.
