The New York Giants will wear their 1980-99 throwback uniforms for the second time this season during their Monday Night Football matchup with the Green Bay Packers, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC.
The uniforms feature a navy blue helmet with an underlined “GIANTS” wordmark on both sides, royal blue jerseys with a classic striping pattern on the collar and cuffs and white pants with red and blue stripes.Β
New York won two Super Bowls during the uniform’s original run, including Super Bowl XXI over the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl XXV over the Buffalo Bills, as well as four division titles.
The uniforms returned for two games last season, including a win over the Chicago Bears and a tie with the Washington Commanders. It was also worn in a win over the Commanders in October.Β
While the Giants are 2-0-1 in this specific uniform, they’re interestingly 1-8 in their Color Rush set, which made its debut in 2016 and is effectively the road version of the 1980-99 throwback uniform.
That includes 0-1 when the white jerseys and pants are paired with the same navy blue helmet as the home version, as they simply swapped the facemask and decals on their standard blue lid prior to this season.
On the other side, the Packers will counter with their standard road uniforms this evening. They notably went 3-4 against the Giants on the road from 1980-99, including 1-1 on Monday Night Football.
