It’s the most wonderful time of the year as the 2023-24 college football bowl season is finally upon us, with 43 postseason games to be played over the next 24 days.
The festivities begin tomorrow with the Myrtle Beach Bowl, which kicks off at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN, and conclude with the College Football Playoff National Championship at Houston’s NRG Stadium on Jan. 8.
To get things started, though, we’ve compiled a list of every new bowl logo, sponsor and name change that took place this year. We’ll follow that up with a uniform preview of every bowl game on Saturday.
Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl
Appalachian State vs Miami (Ohio)
Dec. 16 – 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC
After being sponsored by Duluth Trading Company last season, the Cure Bowl’s new title sponsor is Avocados from Mexico, the top-selling avocado brand in the United States.
The game also updated its logo to include two shades of pink rather than one and changed the color of the palm trees at the bottom from black to white.
Isleta New Mexico Bowl
Fresno State vs New Mexico State
Dec. 16 – 5:45 p.m. ET on ESPN
The New Mexico Bowl went without a title sponsor during the 2022-23 season but announced Isleta Resort and Casino as its new sponsor in September.
The resort, which is located just 10 miles south of University Stadium in Albuquerque, is known nationally for its lakes, golf courses, spa, steakhouse, nightclub and more.
Starco Brands LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk
Boise State vs UCLA
Dec. 16 – 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC
Previously called the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl as part of a naming rights agreement with the late-night talk show host, the game signed a multi-year agreement this season with former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski.
The bowl subsequently added Starco Brands Inc., a Los Angeles-based company that develops and markets home decor, health, fitness, and beauty products, as an additional partner.
Famous Toastery Bowl
Old Dominion vs Western Kentucky
Dec. 18 – 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
Originally scheduled as the Bahamas Bowl, the game was moved to Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, due to renovations at Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau.
It was set to be sponsored by HomeTown Lenders, as well, but Famous Toastery – a restaurant chain in the Carolinas and Virginia – stepped in once the game was relocated.
Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl
Marshall vs UTSA
Dec. 19 – 9 p.m. ET on ESPN
After going without a presenting sponsor last season, the Frisco Bowl landed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Scooter’s Coffee, a rapidly growing drive-thru coffee chain with nearly 700 stores in 29 states.
The new logo is heavily inspired by Scooter’s Coffee’s own design, and features a blue pennant toward the bottom with a Frisco Bowl wordmark.
RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl
Syracuse vs USF
Dec. 21 – 8 p.m. ET on ESPN
Minimal changes for the Boca Raton Bowl, which simply removed the “.com” from the RoofClaim wordmark, which is now orange instead of yellow and is displayed in a larger font size.
76 Birmingham Bowl
Duke vs Troy
Dec. 23 – 12 p.m. ET on ABC
Sponsored by TicketSmarter for the last four seasons, the Birmingham Bowl announced 76 – a chain of gas stations owned by Phillips 66 – as its new title sponsor last month.
The shape of the logo remains the same, though the football that was displayed in front of the city skyline has been moved to the bottom and was replaced by the 76 logo, while the bowl’s name is more prominent.
68 Ventures Bowl
Eastern Michigan vs South Alabama
Dec. 23 – 7 p.m. ET on ESPN
After three seasons as the LendingTree Bowl, the game held at South Alabama’s Hancock Whitney Bank Stadium latched on with 68 Ventures, a parent company for businesses along the Gulf Coast that focus on development, investment and construction.
The bowl logo prominently displays the U.S.S. Alabama, a World War II battleship that is currently on display in Mobile, as well as the 68 Ventures logo.
Military Bowl presented by GoBowling.com
Tulane vs Virginia Tech
Dec. 27 – 2 p.m. ET on ESPN
Previously sponsored by Peraton, a national security and technology company, the Military Bowl secured a three-year partnership with GoBowling.com, which helps connect bowlers of all ages to their love of bowling.
The logo remains mostly unchanged from what was unveiled in 2020, though it adds a Go Bowling wordmark and removes “Benefitting the USO” from the bottom of the circle.
DIRECTV Holiday Bowl
Louisville vs USC
Dec. 27 – 8 p.m. ET on FOX
Sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union for the last six seasons, the Holiday Bowl announced a new partnership with DIRECTV – a satellite television service provider – back in October.
The bowl, which is played at Petco Park in San Diego, continued the tradition of displaying a poinsettia in its new logo, just as it has since the game’s inception in 1978.
Pop-Tarts Bowl
Kansas State vs N.C. State
Dec. 28 – 5:45 p.m. ET on ESPN
After three seasons as the Cheez-It Bowl, the game held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando was renamed the Pop-Tarts Bowl. That’s not to be confused with the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, which takes place in the same venue on Jan. 1.
The game will feature college football’s first edible mascot, which “will run around the stadium interacting with fans and, when the final whistle blows, transform into a game-winning snack for the victors.”
