AHL’s Calgary Wranglers To Break Out ‘Retro Re-Brand’ Jerseys on Dec. 29

Just when you thought the Calgary Wranglers were done with their jerseys for their 2023-24 season, they’ve pulled another trick out of their sleeves.

Only about a month after unveiling their black “Outlaw” third jerseys, the American Hockey League team unveiled a new “Retro Re-Brand” jersey on their social media channels on Wednesday, December 20. They’ll wear the jerseys for one game only — Friday, December 29, at home against the Abbotsford Canucks — and then they’ll be auctioned off.

The jerseys are predominantly white with red squared-off shoulders and a red collar with yellow trim. “WRANGLERS” is spelled out diagonally across the front of the jersey in red with a yellow outlines. Yellow rope stripes outlined in red go around each sleeve.

The hem of the jersey features a red silhouette of a foothills landscape with a red silhouette of a cowboy riding a horse and about to throw a lasso. The rope stripes run around the waist, this time in red with a yellow outline.

The Wranglers’ primary W logo sits on the right shoulder, while a recolored version of the side-view Blasty logo from the Outlaw jerseys appears on the left shoulder. None of the photos from Wednesday’s announcement showed the treatment for names or numbers on the back or sleeves of the jersey.

Bids for the game-worn jerseys will start at $250 when the auction goes live on December 28. It will run until January 3, 2024. The Wranglers didn’t specify in Wednesday’s announcement what charity, if any, the proceeds of the auction would be donated to.

Replica jerseys were not available on the CGY Team Store as of publication. The only merchandise related to the Retro Re-Brand jerseys was a puck with “WRANGLERS” spelled out diagonally and the red silhouette of the foothills and cowboy inside a gold rope.
