The ECHL’s Reading Royals wore their patriotism on their sleeves — and the rest of their upper bodies — with a special edition jersey they wore on Saturday.
For their home game against the Worcester Railers on Saturday, December 30, the Royals sported special-edition Team USA jerseys as they celebrated Team USA Night at the Santander Arena.
The jerseys were white with “USA” in arched blue letters with a red outline across the front. A waving, distressed American flag adorned the waist on both the front and back.
A thick blue stripe with white stars ran around each sleeve, flanked by two thinner red stripes. The shoulder yokes were solid blue with a red outline, and the Royals’ primary logo — recolored to red, white and blue — sat on each shoulder. “We The People” is written in a light grey script font just under each sleeve stripe.
The numbers on the sleeves and black were blue with white and red outlines, while the name on the back was set in a white block font on a contrasting blue nameplate. The jerseys were paired with the Royals’ usual black helmets, pants and gloves and their usual white socks with a purple stripe outlined in white.
The jerseys may have given the Royals the boost they needed on Saturday night, as they defeated Worcester 4-3 in overtime.
Game-worn Team USA Night jerseys are available for auction until 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 31. Replica versions are available through the Royals’ online store.
