Major League Rugby Unveils 2024 Home and Away Kits for 11 Teams

With the start of their 2024 season less than two months away, Major League Rugby unveiled the home and away uniforms for all 11 clubs that will vie for this year’s championship on Wednesday, January 10.

This is the first season of a partnership between MLR and Kappa, a sportswear company that currently outfits several teams in Europe’s top domestic soccer leagues — including AS Monaco and FC Metz in France, as well ACF Fiorentina, Empoli FC and Genoa CFC in Italy — and has a rich history in rugby.

In addition to the uniforms unveiled Wednesday, MLR and Kappa are also planning a special “City” kit for each club that “more closely explores the culture, tradition and history of each city.”

Here’s a look at the home and away kits for all 11 clubs, plus what the league and Kappa had to say about each:

Holding true to their name, both home and away kits for the Hounds feature touches of the classic houndstooth design along the arms bands and down the shorts to provide a bit of fashion pop.

Embracing their Texas roots, the iconic lone star from the state flag is featured prominently across the home and away kits, styled in the green, black and white colorways of the Jackals.

At home, Houston is on the prowl with a unique predatory cat print in black and gray with yellow accents, while the pattern is more subdued for the away prints in the primarily yellow scheme.

The 2024 season is the Sharks’ first in MLR, joining as an expansion franchise.

The expansion Sharks embrace the South Beach scene with a home kit that features a pink top with subtle design elements, while the innovative away kit includes a pink and black pattern that pays homage to the vibrant and bold designs of Wynwood, the city’s thriving arts district.

As the 2023 MLR champions, the New England Free Jacks are the only club with an alternate jersey in 2024.

The defending MLR Cup champions come to play with their traditional, clean look that connects to the region’s revolutionary roots. The traditional collar and clean red, white and blue lines offer a sporty fit.

In a unique look fitting for the nation’s capital, Old Glory DC’s home kit is blue with a pattern inspired by the rotunda in the U.S. Capitol, while the red away kit features a subtle design that harkens to the columns of the Lincoln Memorial.

RFCLA began play as Rugby ATL in Atlanta in 2020, but have relocated to the West Coast for the 2024 season after a change in ownership.

Sun, sand and surf all come to mind thanks to RFCLA’s blue and light blue kits featuring a cascading wave pattern that rolls throughout both looks.

Paying tribute to the city’s military heritage, San Diego’s two uniforms feature innovative camouflage patterns made up of the team’s iconic red, black and silver colorways. Additional new San Diego Legion Kits for 2024 are coming soon.

Two distinct looks help Seattle stand out on the field with a home kit in black with sonic wave patterns across the shirt, as well as orca teeth accents on the collar, sleeves and trim. The away kit features majestic Mount Rainier across the front of the shirt.

Four stripes are represented on both of the Warrior’s kits this year, representing community, family, tradition, and respect. These four strips are featured on every piece of kit worn by the team.

Despite unveiling a suite of new logos in September 2023, the Toronto Arrows have ceased operations following the passing of owner Bill Webb. 2022 MLR champions Rugby New York also withdrew from the league and folded after an attempt to sell the team failed.

There are also rumors of a 12th team joining MLR in time for the 2024 season, though they weren’t mentioned in Wednesday’s kit unveiling. The team would a Rugby USA development team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, that would give U.S.-eligible players valuable playing time ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia and the 2031 World Cup in the United States.
