ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads Unveil Jerseys for 17th Annual Pink in the Rink Weekend

The ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads are once again changing their colors for a good cause this weekend.

The Steelheads are hosting their 17th annual Pink in the Rink Weekend with games against the Kansas City Mavericks on Friday, January 12, and Saturday, January 13. Since the first edition was held in 2005-06, the Pink in the Rink Weekend has raised more than $278,000 for cancer research and treatment in Idaho.

The jerseys for this year’s Pink in the Rink Weekend are a bit light on the featured color but still make an impact. Designed by Karl Winks, who has designed several special edition jerseys for the Steelheads in the past, the jerseys are mostly black, but the logo on the front has pink and white outlines, giving it a neon sign effect.

The jerseys have pink trim around the collar and the shoulder yoke, along with white and pink striping around the sleeves. White and pink stripes also form mountains on the sides of the jersey, an element that carries over from the team’s grey alternate jersey.

Numbers on the jersey are black with pink and white outlines. The video posted to social media by the Steelheads appears to show names on the back in one-color white.

Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off on Handbid starting on Friday afternoon; bids will close on Sunday, January 14. Proceeds will benefit St. Luke’s Breast Care Services, which offers screening and diagnostic mommography, genetic counselling, comprehensive breast cancer treatment and survivor support to people from across Idaho.

The Steelheads have been auctioning off jerseys to benefit St. Luke’s since their first season in Boise in 1997-98. Those auctions have raised more than $628,000.
