French Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain are addressing the elephant in the room with their new fourth kit for the 2023-24 season.
PSG launched the new kits — made by Nike under their Jordan brand — on their website and social media channels on Wednesday, January 24. The shirt is predominantly gold with tonal elephant print covering the front, back and sleeves. The elephant print has been synonymous with Nike and Jordan brand sneakers since it first appeared on the Air Jordan III shoe in 1988.
A tonal vertical stripe runs down the center of the front of the shirt, mimicking the Hechter stripe that usually appears in the same position on PSG’s home kits.
The sleeve cuffs are blue, and the crew neck collar is blue around the back and olive green in the front. Olive green panels run under the arms and down the sides of the jersey. Sponsor logos and the club crest appear on the chest in olive green.
The shorts that go with the jersey are olive green and the socks are gold with the same elephant print as the shirt. Photos of PSG players released on Wednesday show them wearing shorts with the elephant print as well, but the only shorts available on PSG’s online shop were solid green.
Along with the jerseys, PSG and Jordan released a training and lifestyle range in tones of olive green and gold. This includes an exclusive Air Jordan Legacy 312 Low sneaker featuring the elephant print.
The elephant print is also used on PSG’s black third kit for 2023-24, which they debuted back in September 2023 in a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.
PSG’s women’s team will debut the new fourth kit on the pitch when they take on Ajax in the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, January 24.
The men’s team returns to Ligue 1 action on Sunday, January 28, against Stade Brestois 29.
