As the rest of the Pro Volleyball Federation kicked off their inaugural 2024 season this past week, one new franchise already has its eyes on 2025.
The PVF’s newest expansion franchise unveiled its name and logo on Friday, January 26, ahead of their debut in 2025: the Indy Ignite. The Indianapolis-based club is one of three expansion teams slated to join the league next season, with the others in Kansas City and Dallas.
The name “pays tribute to the burning passion of the volleyball community, the fierce determination of their athletes and the league’s efforts to spark a new era of women’s pro sports,” according to the club.
“Ignite is a verb—an action. It’s a name that captures the nature of our mission, while emphasizing the bold athleticism of our sport. In the coming year, we look forward to building a team worthy of this powerful name, bringing together world-class players and passionate partners to create an unforgettable experience for our fans.”
— Indy Ignite co-owner Jim Schumacher
The logo features a navy blue and white volleyball with yellow highlights in the bowl of a navy and light blue torch, with yellow and orange flames surrounding it. “INDY” is written in white on a navy banner near the top of the torch, while “IGNITE” is written in navy on a larger light blue and white banner over the torch’s handle.
The torch is reference to the Indiana state flag, “which represents liberty, enlightenment and their far-reaching impact on the world around us,” according to the club. It also refers to Victory, a statue atop the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Indianapolis. “From her vantage point, Victory holds her torch high above the city, serving as a constant reminder of the courage it takes to fight for progress,” the Ignite’s website reads.
“As part of the Pro Volleyball Federation, Indy Ignite is blazing a trail and creating new opportunities for women in sports. Our name reflects that vision, as we work to support female athletes and ignite a passion for women’s volleyball across Indiana. We want our team to light up the court, spark a movement and inspire everyone to embrace the fire within.”

Secondary logos include the torch along with the “INDY” banner moved down to over the torch handle and a wordmark with the “INDY” banner over the “IGNITE” lettering isolated from the primary logo.
