Memphis Grizzlies Roll Out City Edition Court Paying Homage to Concrete Courts in Local Parks

The NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies are paying tribute to the concrete courts that local basketball players call home with their new City Edition Court.

The Grizzlies debuted the new court at the FedEx Forum on Thursday, February 8, when they hosted the Chicago Bulls. Dubbed “The City’s Park,” the court’s mottled grey surface “pulls inspiration from the concrete blacktops that Memphis hoopers and kids call home,” according to the team’s website. “It embodies the basketball soul of our city, our joy for the game, and the grind at the heart of our franchise.”

A black and gold version of the Grizzlies’ bear head logo sits at center court; this version of the logo is also found on the shorts of their black 2024 City Edition uniforms. The court lines are white, and the team’s stylized “MEM” pattern runs along the sideline facing the television cameras. “MEMPHIS” is spelled out in black letters with gold inlines along the left baseline, while “GRIZZLIES” appears in the same font along the right baseline.

Here’s a look at the court in game action:

The Grizzlies will use the new court six more times before the end of the 2023-24 NBA regular season:
