CanPL’s Cavalry FC Ready to Shine in New Primary, Alternate Kits

There might still be snow on the ground in Alberta, but Calgary-based Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC are ready to go with new kits for their new season.

On Monday, Feburary 12, the club unveiled their new Macron-manufactured primary and alternate kits, making them the first CanPL team out of the gate for the 2024 season. While the league schedule doesn’t kick off until April, Cavalry have a home-and-away series coming up against Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup on February 21 and 27.

Like it’s been throughout Cavalry FC’s history, the primary kit is predominantly red, with green and white accents on the collar and sleeve cuffs. A tonal geometric pattern on the front of the shirt is “inspired by the dynamic tech industry in Alberta,” according to the club’s website. White triangles streak up from the bottom of the shirt, a “subtle reference” to the sash Cavalry FC has had on past home kits.

Meanwhile, Cavalry’s alternate kit is mainly green, with tonal stars dotting the top half of the shirt and a Northern Lights pattern dominating the bottom half. The sleeve cuffs and collar are black with green and red trim, and the club crest and sponsor logos are rendered in white.

The lower back of the jersey features a depiction of the Pegasus Constellation, “a nod to our home field at Spruce Meadows,” the equestrian complex in southwest Calgary where Cavalry FC plays.

The only other CanPL team in the Concacaf Champions Cup is Hamilton-based Forge FC, who won the North Star Cup in 2023 with a 2-1 victory over Cavalry FC in November 2023. Forge FC fell 3-1 to Liga MX side CD Guadalajara in the first game on February 7, with the return match set for Tuesday, February 13.
