Tiger Woods Announces New ‘Sun Day Red’ Apparel Brand

After his relationship with Nike ended earlier this year, Tiger Woods is back with his own new golf apparel brand, Sun Day Red.

Woods launched the new brand — which will be a standalone brand under manufacturer TaylorMade — on Monday, February 12, in Los Angeles. For his entire career, Woods has famously won red on Sundays for the final rounds of golf tournaments, including the 15 major championships he has won.

The centerpiece of Sun Day Red — “Sunday” is broken up in the name because “there is a special power in 3’s,” according to the brand’s website — is a logo that’s an abstract depiction of a leaping tiger. The tiger has 15 stripes, each symbolizes one of Woods’s major championships.

At the heart of Sun Day Red’s ethos is a logo that tells a story. It’s a narrative of Tiger’s incredible achievements, a visual tribute to a career that has inspired millions. But the designs go further, embedding Easter eggs for the fans, including a 15-striped tiger emblem representing his 15 major wins. …

Born from a love for being outside in the sun, the joy of playing golf during the day, and a special red being the brands power color — as soon as Sun Day Red was placed on a garment for the first time, it just looked perfect.

The logo is seen in many different applications in the photos accompanying the Sun Day Red announcement: embroided on hats and golf gloves, under the plackets of polo shirts, and printed on T-shirts.

Sun Day Red promises apparel with “the meticulous attention to detail that Tiger is known and respected for,” with features like enhanced shoulder seaming, two-way zippers and precisely designed collars and cuffs that allow for full range of motion and optimum performance.

“I have learned so much over the years and have a lifetime of experience adjusting my apparel and footwear to help me play better based on the way it was constructed. There are things that I could tell you that no one knew I was doing over the years. I’m ready to share those secrets with the world. Sun Day Red will embody a love of playing and competing, and we are for people that share those values, whether it’s on the course, or in life. We will be anchored to putting the athlete first in the product decisions we make.”

Sun Day Red apparel will go on sale online starting May 1; polos are expected to sell for $115-$175 US, while cashmere sweaters will cost $250-$350 US.

Woods is expected to wear Sun Day Red gear this weekend as he plays in the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, his first PGA Tour event since last year’s Masters.
