Here Are All the Kits Major League Soccer Teams Will Wear in 2024

Soccer is back! The 2024 Major League Soccer season is right around the corner, and teams were busy last week releasing a slew of new kits.

The season technically kicks off on Wednesday, February 20, when Inter Miami hosts Real Salt Lake at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. But things really kick into high gear the weekend of February 24 and 25, with 14 matches on the schedule.

As a reminder, MLS clubs typically release one new kit each year, alternating between primary and secondary kits. Each kit stays in the rotation for two years. In 2023, four teams had third kits — Toronto FC, Atlanta United, New York City FC and New York Red Bulls — and there are rumours of four to five teams getting third kits again this season.

Here’s what all 29 MLS teams will be wearing this season:

Atlanta United’s new secondary kit features a phoenix graphic and a blue-and-yellow color scheme, both inspired by the Atlanta city flag.

An armadillo on the jock tag of Austin FC’s new secondary kit is a nod to Armadillo World Headquarters, an iconic and globally recognized concert venue in Austin that had its heyday in the 1970s.

Charlotte FC’s new primary kit showcases the diverse landscapes of the Carolinas. “Contoured linework displayed across the kit represents the topographical map of both North and South Carolina, while the multiple shades of blue are what you’ll find as you explore from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic Coast.”

The Chicago Fire make their long-awaited return to red primary kits this season. The red shirt with a white band across the chest harkens back to what the Fire wore from 1996 to an ill-fated rebrand in 2020.

FC Cincinnati are encouraging their supporters to make their mark with their new secondary kit. The base of the kit is white, but accents like the sleeve cuffs, side panels, side/hem taping and collar insert have a unique orange and blue design.

The Colorado Rapids are raising the flag with their new primary kit. The burgundy shirt has a wavy checkerboard pattern covering the front and sleeves, which represents the Rapids “putting a stake in the ground: raising their flag in support of access to soccer for young people.”

The new primary kit for defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew is predominantly yellow, with a grainy, jagged black band across the chest “inspired by the bold, angular architecture of the Black & Gold’s Fortress Lower.com Field and the buildings in the neighborhood that surround their Home – Astor Park.”

FC Dallas are eschewing their usual red and blue hoops for something markedly different with their new primary kit. The front of the kit gradually fades from blue to red as you move from the right side to the left.

DC United hopes to bring people together through its new primary kit for 2024. The tonal pattern on the front of the black kit is inspired by the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, which is located near the team’s home stadium, Audi Field.

Houston Dynamo pays tribute to its city’s vibrant hip hop scene with its new secondary kit. “Sporting a bright purple (the city’s unofficial secondary color) design, the jersey is a tribute to all Houstonians who are ‘Still Holdin” it down for H-Town,” MLSSoccer.com says.

Sporting Kansas City returns to one of their most popular jersey patterns with their new secondary kit. “What started as a surprise third kit in 2013 quickly became an iconic look for the Club. It returned in 2015 and, over time, has become a ubiquitous design element and part of our brand,” reads the description on SKC’s online store.

The black base of LAFC’s new primary kit has gold and grey pinstripes covering the front and sleeves, representing “strength, craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

After fans asked for it, the sash is back on the LA Galaxy’s primary kit — kind of. The front of the white kit features grey diagonal stripes that break for long enough to form a sash containing the club crest.

Inter Miami’s new primary kit features a “new, deeper shade of pink” and a subtle M (for Miami) pattern in the stitching of the fabric. It’s also the first to feature the logo of their new main sponsor, cruise company Royal Caribbean.

After releasing a Northern Lights-themed secondary kit last year, Minnesota United turns back to the night sky for inspiration for their new primary kit. “The kit presents a fresh take on a black look, deepening the club’s connection with their primary color and reflecting the breathtaking, boundless glory of the North Star State,” according to MLSSoccer.com.

The royal blue stripe on the front of CF Montréal’s new light blue secondary kit symbolizes Boulevard St-Laurent, “Montréal’s central artery where east and west ends meet, a street that runs at the heart of the city, which has historically reunited its diverse communities.”

Nashville SC is putting a new twist on their usual yellow primary kits with a broad navy “Acoustic Blue” stripe across the chest containing the club crest and yellow Adidas logos.

Dubbed the “Boston Tea Party Kit,” the New England Revolution’s new primary jersey pays homage to that defiant act in 1773 that led to the American Revolution.

The bright blue and orange accents on the black base of New York City FC’s new secondary kit represent “the New York City night scene and the bright lights that shine through the dark to reflect that relentless nature,” according to the club.

The red base and black zigzag pattern on New York Red Bulls’ new primary kit harkens back to the colours and logo of the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, the club’s identity from 1996 to 2006.

Orlando City marks 10 years in MLS with their new secondary kit. The base of the kit is lavender and draws inspiration from the club’s first season and first championship in 2011 when they were in USL Pro. On the chest is a reworked version of Orlando City’s crest with three lions from its USL Pro days from 2011 to 2014.

The center stripe is back on the Philadelphia Union’s new home kit for their 15th MLS season. This time around, though, it’s made up of gold and bright blue triangles and diamonds on a navy blue base.

The Portland Timbers are bringing together a love of soccer with a love of nature for their new secondary kit. The off-white base features a pattern of various green tree leaves on the sides and sleeves.

Real Salt Lake are taking inspiration from their surroundings for their new primary kit. A blue mountain peak — representing the nearby Wasatch Mountains, which are visible from all angles inside Real’s home stadium — dominates the front of the red shirt, with blue stripes extending down from underneath it.

With their white base and red trim, the San Jose Earthquakes’ new secondary kits harken back to what they wore when they first entered the North American Soccer League in 1974. Their crest from 1976 appears on the left chest, while a monochrome red version of their current crest sits on the back collar.

Past and future collide in the Seattle Sounders’ new primary kit for 2024. This is the first new kit using the tweaked colour palette and new crest introduced in the Sounders’ “brand evolution” in September 2023, and it aims to be “a bold kit reflecting Seattle’s tradition as one of North American soccer’s most iconic clubs.”

With the tonal wave pattern across the front and sleeves of the white base, St. Louis CITY SC’s new secondary kit not only celebrates the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers but also “the unstoppable energy that flows through the city and the supporters who come together at CITYPARK.”

Toronto FC’s new secondary kit is the first TFC kit to feature their simplified secondary logo on the chest as “a nod to the city’s diverse culture, the wider global community and the world’s shared love of the beautiful game.”

The Vancouver Whitecaps are going gold to celebrate their 50th anniversary season. Their new secondary kit features gold accents and logos on a navy blue base. The left chest bears a golden soccer ball with a maple leaf in the middle, lifted from the original crest the Whitecaps wore from 1974 to 1978 in the North American Soccer League.
