The High-A Great Lakes Loons will pay tribute to the laid back stylings of life on the lake with an alternate identity that they’ll adopt this summer. The team will play as the Pontooners, an homage to boats that are essentially party decks on floaties.
The logo, created by Brandiose, features an anthropomorphized pontoon boat grimacing menacingly as it drifts harmlessly on the water. A second logo highlights a shirtless, waterbound party-goer on a baseball-themed inner tube.
On the mitten that is the map of Michigan, the Loons play on the webbing between the thumb and the forefinger, about 20 miles from the closest shores of Lake Huron, where water-based recreation is a staple of the summertime.
The Pontooners will take to the field July 11-13, 2024.
