As the calendar flips to April, the Philadelphia Phillies are poised to whet the collective appetites of baseball aesthetic enthusiasts everywhere. They announced today that they will unveil the club’s 2024 Nike MLB City Connect uniform this Friday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m. Philly time.
The new uniform will be unveiled at the New Era Phillies Team Store at Citizens Bank Park, which will also serve as the exclusive place to purchase the new City Connect merch during the initial launch. In the afternoon, a free block party on Citizens Bank Way featuring appearances by Phillies alumni will follow, running from 3 to 9 pm.
Philadelphia will wear the new uniform for the first time one week after the unveiling, during their home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, April 12. The Phillies will then wear the uniform for every Friday home game for the remainder of the 2024 season (presumably into the 2025 and 2026 seasons).
The Phillies launch will kick off the 2024 slate of Nike MLB City Connect uniforms, which will see eight new teams join the fold and one team give it another go with a new design. The nine teams getting a City Connect uniform in 2024 are Cleveland, Detroit, the LA Dodgers (again), Minnesota, the NY Mets, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, and Toronto. The order and release dates of these new uniforms (beyond Philadelphia) have yet to be officially revealed by the league.
