MLS Rolls Out New Design for One Planet Kits; Won’t Be Worn in Games This Season

Major League Soccer and Adidas have once again rolled out new kits to raise awareness on environmental issues, but this season the kits won’t be worn in game action.

MLS unveiled the new One Planet kits on Tuesday, April 9, as part of its seventh annual Greener Goals Week of Service, which aims to highlight environmental issues throughout the soccer community.

The pre-match tops are made of recycled materials and come in three distinct colors: green for the woods; tan for soils; and light blue for water. A pattern of graffiti flowers and leaves appears in full color on the green shirts and is tonal on the tan and blue kits.

Accents on the sides of the blue and green jerseys are white, as are sponsor logos and club crests, while those are red on the tan jersey. All three appear to have navy blue or black Adidas shoulder stripes and collars.

Teams had worn recycled plastic kits in matches in previous years, but MLS had come under fire for not having enough contrast between kit options.
