Colombian singer Karol G is set to be the latest musical artist to have their logo adorn the front of FC Barcelona’s jerseys for a pair of matches this month.
The Spanish giants announced on Friday, April 12, that the singer’s logo — her name inside a barbed wire heart — will be on the front of their women’s team’s jerseys when they play Villarreal on Saturday, March 13, and on the men’s team’s jersey for the next edition of El Clásico against Real Madrid on Sunday, April 21.
This new logo seeks to pay tribute to everyone willing to change the rules of the game, to break down barriers and to leave a legacy for new generations to express themselves as they want. “La Bichota”, just like the Barça women’s and men’s teams, has inspired countless people. Karol G joins Drake, Rosalía and the Rolling Stones as artists whose logos have appeared on Barça’s jerseys as part of their sponsorship deal with music streaming service Spotify.
Her latest album, Mañana Será Bonito, was released in February 2023 and hit number one on the Billboard 200. She was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live in April 2023 with host Ana de Armas.
“The heart symbol represents what became ‘Bichota’ style, a moment in my life where I found strength, resilience and support,” Karol G said on Barça’s website. “Thanks to Spotify and FC Barcelona, seeing it on the front of a shirt that inspires so much of that same energy is truly meaningful.”
“Changing the logo on the shirt has become one of the most iconic and successful parts of the relationship between Barça and Spotify. Two special editions of the shirt will be available for fans to purchase: a limited run of 1,899 authentic shirts with the logo on the front (€399.99 each), and an even more exclusive run of just 22 shirts, each signed by one member of Barça’s starting lineup from each game they’re worn (€2,999.99 each).
A limited edition co-branded of lifestyle apparel has also been launched on Karol G’s website. It includes shirts, hoodies, scarves, beanies and water bottles.
