The Jacksonville Jaguars shared a video on social media on Monday morning that strongly hinted at the franchise wearing throwback uniforms during the upcoming season.
The 42-second video featured the Jaguars’ equipment staff asking followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, what kind of uniform-related requests they have as the team puts together its 2024 schedule.
An overwhelming number of responses mentioned throwback uniforms before the video came to an end with the full-bodied jaguar logo that Jacksonville used as an alternate from 1995-2012.
This fall, of course, marks the Jaguars’ 30th season since they joined the league as an expansion franchise, and they recently asked fans to vote on which logo they would like to see mark the occasion.
Two of the choices notably use their 1997-2008 number font, and it would make sense for one of those to be the winner, since that’s the era Jacksonville would honor with its throwback uniforms.
Those uniforms featured a black helmet with the Jaguars’ original logo on the sides, teal jerseys with white numbers outlined in gold and black and the aforementioned full-bodied jaguar on the sleeves.
The look was complete with gold and black sleeves cuffs, white pants with a teal, gold and black striping pattern on the sides and black socks, though the teal jerseys were occasionally paired with black pants.
The uniforms are often mistaken as Jacksonville’s original design, but the 1995-96 set actually featured a block number font while the 1997 uniforms had black side panels on the jersey and pants.
This will be the first throwback design in Jaguars history, as they’ve only deviated from their standard home, road and alternate threads for the NFL’s Color Rush promotion in 2015-16, when they wore all-gold uniforms.
