Bayern Munich Goes All In On Red With 2024-25 Home Kits

After shying away from the color a bit in 2023-24, German Bundesliga powerhouses Bayern Munich are betting it all on red with their 2024-25 home kits.

Bayern unveiled the new kits on their website and social media platforms on Monday, May 6. It features three shades of red “representing identity, emotion and the drama of the game.”

The lighter red base features darker red vertical stripes on the front that fade out in a halftone pattern of diamonds similar to those found on the Bayern crest and the flag of Bavaria. The logos of Adidas and sponsor Deutsche Telekom are black with red outlines, and the Bayern crest on the left chest is rendered in black and red.

The collar is solid red with a black stripe through the middle, and the sleeve cuffs are solid red. The Adidas shoulder stripes are black, and the full name of the club is spelled out across the shoulders in black, below the club motto, “Mia San Mia.”

On the left sleeve, the logo of sponsor Allianz contains a QR code that “fans can use to exclusive promotions on an ongoing basis,” the club said. “With this innovative QR code campaign, Allianz aims to intensify dialogue with digitally savvy, younger target groups in the global fan community.”

For the home kit launch, every 100th person who buys the jersey and registers via the QR code before May 12 will have the chance to win their purchase price back at the Allianz x FC Bayern hub. More details on the contest can be found here.

The kits unveiled Monday fit with the pledge Bayern made after fan protests in 2018 to only wear red and white home kits moving forward without mixing in other colors like navy blue. They did, however, wear their 2023-24 away kits for a home Champions League match in November 2023, which also drew the ire of fans.

Bayern’s women’s team will wear the same home kit as the men, but their crest will have two stars above it after they recently wrapped up their sixth Frauen-Bundesliga championship. The women also have Allianz as their front-of-shirt sponsor.

Of note, 2024-25 will be the first time in a while that Bayern’s men’s team will not have a gold Bundesliga logo on the sleeve. After 11 straight league titles, Bayern were dethroned by Bayer Leverkusen this season. With two matches to play in 2023-24, Bayern sit in second place, only two points ahead of VfB Stuttgart and six points ahead of RB Leipzig.

Bayern’s women’s team will be the first to wear the new home kits when they face VfL Wolfsburg in the DFB Cup final on Thursday, May 9. The men’s team will wear them in their final home Bundesliga match of the 2023-24 season on Sunday, May 12, also against Wolfsburg.
