Halifax’s entry in the Northern Super League is hoping rising Tides will lift their boat during the league’s inaugural season in 2025.
The club unveiled its name — Halifax Tides FC — and crest on their social media channels on Thursday, July 13, confirming what the Northern Tribune had found filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.
The club’s colour palette includes Ocean Cyan, Granite Purple and Ship Grey. They list their founding principles as inspiration, opportunity and legacy.
The crest is a shield with two waves crashing into each other. Above the waves is a moon, while four stripes below represent the four former municipalities that amalgamated into the Halifax Regional Municipality. “TIDES” is written inside the shield, while “HALIFAX” is written on top.
The Northern Super League is Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league, slated to take the pitch with six teams in 2025. The league unveiled its name and logo on May 28.
The Tides are the third NSL team to roll out their identity, following Calgary Wild FC and AFC Toronto. Other teams in the inaugural season will be based in Vancouver, Montréal and Ottawa.
