The Virginia Tech football program unveiled new uniforms on Thursday – one day earlier than expected – after having them leaked during a livestream of EA Sports’ new College Football 25 video game.
The maroon home and white road jerseys are reminiscent of the Michael Vick era, with a simplified design that features white or maroon numbers with orange trim on the front and back and orange numbers with maroon and white trim on the sleeves.
Rather than be an exact copy of the 1999 throwback uniforms Virginia Tech wore during the 2021 season, though, the new uniforms include the program’s current font with a sublimated Hokie Stone pattern.
The throwback uniforms also featured a “Tech” wordmark on the right hip of the pants, but that’s been replaced by a “Hokies” wordmark on the new maroon and white pants.
The uniforms are complete maroon and white helmets, which both feature Virginia Tech’s primary logo on the sides. The white helmet also includes a new maroon, white and orange striping pattern.
