Adidas has resurrected one of its own classic logos to put a new twist on 2024-25 third kits for five of the most high-profile clubs its outfits across Europe.
The kits were released en masse on Sunday, August 11, and include new looks for Arsenal and Manchester United of England’s Premier League; Juventus of Italy’s Serie A; Bayern Munich of the German Bundesliga; and Real Madrid of La Liga in Spain.
Each kit features Adidas’s classic trefoil logo on the right chest. The logo was first introduced in 1972; since 2000, it has been “reserved for all Originals products to pay homage to the heritage of the brand.”
Here’s a rundown of all five of the new looks launched on Monday:
REAL MADRID
Real Madrid’s new third kit is grey with a repeating “RMFC” monogram woven into the fabric. That same monogram appears in white on the back collar. The grey polo collar and sleeve cuffs have white and darker grey trim, while the club crest and sponsor logos are monochromatic white. The grey Adidas shoulder stripes blend in with the rest of the shirt.
MANCHESTER UNITED
The red and black stripes across the chest of the off-white base of Manchester United’s third kit represent the “tricolor flag that unites our fans worldwide.” This flag is also found on the back collar with “MANCHESTER UNITED” written inside. The devil from the club’s crest is isolated on the left chest. The crew neck collar, sleeve cuffs and Adidas shoulder stripes are black.
ARSENAL
Arsenal’s new third kit “deep dives into the culture surrounding the club and its constant process of reinvention, using the past as a foundation to shape the future,” according to the club’s website. A swirling lilac pattern covers the light blue base, all of which is anchored by the navy blue collar, sleeve cuffs and Adidas shoulder stripes. The cannon from the club crest once again appears on its own on the left chest.
BAYERN MUNICH
Tradition triumphs for Bayern Munich and their new third kit, which they plan to wear primarily during the UEFA Champions League this season. The beige shirt has a pattern of diamonds woven into the fabric, and a retro crest from the 1970s matches the era of the Adidas trefoil logo. The polo collar and sleeve cuffs have bright red and dark red trim, and the Adidas shoulder stripes are bright red while the sponsor logos are dark red.
JUVENTUS
After unveiling a home kit with a lunar texture and an away kit inspired by unexplored galaxies, Juventus keeps the space theme going with their new third kit, which the club says takes “the reflection of the moon in the starry skies” as inspiration. The navy blue shirt has a pattern of rotated Js from the club’s primary crest woven into its fabric. Trim on the polo collar and the sleeve cuffs, along with the Adidas shoulder stripes, are a slightly lighter shade of blue. A retro club crest featuring a distorted zebra silhouette is embroidered in gold on the left chest, with a gold Adidas trefoil on the opposite side. “JUVENTUS” is spelled out in gold on the back collar.
