This season marks 123rd season of top-tier soccer in Italy and the 15th since it has been organized under its own league committee, the Lega Serie A. Defending champions Inter Milan gets things started on Saturday, August 17, with a match against against Genoa CFC. Three other matches take place the same day, and another four take place on Sunday, August 18. The first matchweek concludes with US Lecce taking on Atalanta and Juventus hosting newly promoted Como 1907 on Sunday, August 19.
