It kicks off on Friday, August 23, when defending champions Bayer Leverkusen — who went through the 2023-24 Bundesliga season without losing a single match (28 wins, 6 draws, 0 losses) and thus have the privilege of wearing a gold league patch this season — visits Borussia Mönchengladbach. Six more matches take place on Saturday, August 24, and the first matchday wraps up with VfL Wolfsburg hosting Bayern Munich and newly promoted FC St. Pauli hosting FC Heidenheim on Sunday, August 25.
