Christmas might be right around the corner, but for the Everett Silvertips, there’s still time for a good scare before Santa Claus arrives.
The Washington-based Western Hockey League team will be donning “Nightmare” black jerseys in their game against the Wenatchee Wild this week to mark the last Friday the 13th of 2024. The sweaters feature a recolored primary logo on the chest, with their usual brown bear turning black with glowing red eyes and green-and-silver outlines.
The sleeves and waist of the Nightmare jersey has the same “treeline design” as the Silvertips’ regular home and away jerseys, but “with less-defined edges to symbolize both the undistinguishable mystery of a darkened forest and the sharp fangs of the ‘Nightmare’ beast.” The collar is green and white, with white laces at the front.
A white walking bear patch sits on each shoulder. The numbers on the sleeves appear to be one-colour white and set in a blockier font than what the Silvertips typically use, with notches in the numbers. The numbers on the back are white with silver outlines and claw marks running through the middle.
The jersey will be paired with green helmets, pants and gloves. The socks are black with the same striping and the sleeves.
Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off online starting on Friday the 13th, with bids closing one week later. Fans at Friday’s game can also enter an exclusive in-person raffle to win their team mascot Lincoln’s Nightmare sweater. Special “Nightmare” pucks will also be used in warmups and will be available for fans to purchase.
