Oregon Combines Previous Rose Bowl Appearances With College Football Playoff Uniforms

As we first reported earlier this month, the Oregon football program announced on Sunday it will combine uniform elements from previous Rose Bowl appearances for Wednesday’s College Football Playoff matchup against Ohio State.

The chrome helmets, which feature new apple green wings and “O” logo, are a nod to their 2012 and 2020 Rose Bowl victories over Wisconsin, though those versions had chrome or midnight green decals and facemasks.

The apple green jerseys, meanwhile, were introduced this season as a part of their new “Generation O” uniforms and pay homage to the “Gang Green” teams of the mid-1990s, including their 1995 Rose Bowl team. The Ducks also wore apple green jerseys in their 2015 Rose Bowl win over Florida State.

The uniforms are complete with white pants – which are from their “Warp Speed” set that debuted in a win at Michigan earlier this season – as Oregon notably wore white pants in a loss to the Buckeyes in the 2010 Rose Bowl.

Ohio State, meanwhile, will wear its standard road uniform on Wednesday, just like it did in that 2010 matchup. The Buckeyes have also added a subtle rose pattern to their silver helmets, recreating the helmet design they wore in their 2022 Rose Bowl victory over Utah.
