Wisconsin Men’s, Women’s Teams Roll Out Separate Baseball-Inspired Uniforms for Frozen Confines Series

As one of two schools with both their men’s and women’s teams participating in the 2025 Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series this weekend at Wrigley Field in Chicago, the University of Wisconsin Badgers have rolled out separate baseball-inspired uniforms for their outdoor showcase.

Both looks were unveiled on the respective team’s social media platforms on January 1, 2025, three days before they take the ice at Wrigley Field. The nationally No. 1-ranked women Badgers will take on Ohio State, while the men face off with national No. 1-ranked Michigan State.

Of the two Wisconsin teams, the women have the “home” uniform, with a red “Wisconsin” script across the chest of the white jersey for “a vintage look and a nod to historic Wisconsin teams,” according to their social media. Below the script is each player’s number, also in one-colour red.

Interestingly, the women’s jerseys don’t have sleeve numbers. In their place is a red patch in the shape of the state of Wisconsin “to represent our state away from home.” Two red stripes run around the waist and each sleeve, as well as the white socks. The collar is white with red trim, with a red Under Armour logo at the front. The numbers on the back are one-color red and set in the same font as the front number, and the names are set in a red serif block font. Both fonts are “a tribute to playing at one of the most historic sporting venues in the world.”

The white jerseys were pictured in the announcement photos and video paired with red pants and red gloves. Players were not shown in those materials wearing helmets, only white toques with red trim.

The Badgers men’s team, meanwhile, gets the “away” uniform for their Wrigley Field game. Their jersey features a white “Badgers” script with a black outline and drop shadow across the chest of a red jersey. Unlike the women, though, the men’s jersey has no number on the front.

Around the waist and each sleeve, there are four white stripes and three black stripes of equal width, and the middle black stripe has a red pinstripe running through it. The numbers on the sleeves and back are set in a white block font with black outlines and drop shadows, while names appear in a white serif block font.

The announcement materials posted to social media mention a shoulder patch with Bucky Badger in front of a black W, but no patches were visible in the photos or video posted.

The red jerseys were shown paired with red gloves, red helmets, black pants and red socks with the same striping pattern as the sleeves. The “Badgers” script appears on the right leg of the pants and as a raised sticker on the helmets.

Both Wisconsin teams will play their 2025 Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series games at Wrigley Field on Saturday, January 4. The women face off against Ohio State at 4:30 p.m. CT, while the men take on Michigan State at 8 p.m. CT. Two men’s games will also take place the day before, with Ohio State taking on Michigan and Penn State facing Notre Dame. All games in the series are available on the Big Ten Network.
