Milwaukee Brewers Remember Bob Uecker With Memorial Jersey Patch in 2025

For the first time ever, the Milwaukee Brewers will take the field without Bob Uecker. To honour their legendary broadcaster, the Brewers will wear a memorial patch on their jersey sleeve throughout the 2025 season.

The patch features Uecker’s signature in yellow, placed on a blue ribbon stretched across a baseball. A circular logo incorporates a blue and yellow plaid pattern—a tribute to the distinctive plaid sport coats Uecker often wore.

“We miss Bob every day, and all the more as we approach our first season without him at our side,” said Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger. “Ueck was a great friend to all of us. He was a fixture at the ballpark and in our lives. We cannot fill the hole that his absence has created, but the jersey patch will be a way to honour his memory whenever we take the field.”

Uecker, known as “Mr. Baseball,” spent 54 seasons calling Brewers games on the radio, beginning with the team’s first year in Milwaukee in 1971. His tenure ranks as the fourth-longest of any broadcaster with one team in Major League Baseball history, behind only Vin Scully (Dodgers), Jaime Jarrín (Dodgers), and Denny Matthews (Royals).

A Milwaukee native, Uecker’s contributions to the game extended far beyond the radio booth. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003, receiving the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence. His career included a six-year stint as a Major League catcher, an acting career, and more than 100 appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

The Brewers have honoured Uecker in several ways over the years. In 2012, a bronze statue of him was unveiled outside American Family Field, joining those of Hank Aaron, Robin Yount, and Bud Selig. Two years later, a second statue was installed in the last row of the stadium’s terrace level, commemorating his famous “I must be in the front row!” Miller Lite commercials.

Uecker passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 90.
