Detroit Pistons’ 2025-26 City Edition Uniforms Leaked By SLAM Magazine

When fans of the Detroit Pistons pass by their local newsstand on Wednesday morning, they’ll be treated to a sneak peek of the their 2025-26 City Edition jerseys on the cover of SLAM Magazine.

The cover shows All-Star guard Cade Cunningham wearing a black jersey with a white “Detroit” wordmark across the chest, teal side panels outlined in maroon and a teal, yellow and maroon striping pattern around the collar and arm holes.

It’s effectively a recolour of the Pistons’ 2021-22 City Edition design, which featured lightning bolts down the sides of the jersey and shorts as a nod to their late 1970s/early 1980s aesthetic. This version, however, adopts Detroit’s infamous 1990s colour scheme.

Fittingly, Cunningham wore the 2021-22 City Edition design – which was mostly red with blue, white and teal accents – in his first appearance on the cover of SLAM Magazine during his rookie season (SLAM 238, May 2022).

His teammates were the ones to leak next season’s jerseys, however, as they wore t-shirts featuring the latest cover (SLAM 256) to Monday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings, prompting sideline reporter Natalie Kerwin to confirm their legitimacy later in the evening.

The Pistons are also set to host “SLAM Night” during Thursday’s game against the New York Knicks and fans in attendance will be able to purchase those shirts, though it’s unclear if the team will officially reveal the entire uniform or keep the full details under wraps until the NBA’s league-wide City Edition unveiling this fall.

That said, SLAM shared a full photo of the uniform within the magazine, and the shorts will feature a black waistband that prominently displays the Pistons’ “Flaming Horse” logo in teal, as well as their current and classic primary marks on opposite legs, just below the lightning bolts.

The new uniforms will replace Detroit’s current City Edition design, which pays homage to the “Bad Boys” teams that won back-to-back NBA titles in 1989-90 and the iconic skull-and-crossbones t-shirts that exploded in popularity during their run.
