Atlético de Madrid, Nike Extend Kit Contract Until 2035

The long-standing partnership between one of the biggest names in sportswear and one of the biggest clubs in Spanish soccer will continue for another decade.

Atlético de Madrid announced this week that it has extended its kit contract with Nike until 2035; according to Yahoo Sports, the €300-million deal doubles the club’s income from their previous deal, which was set to expire in 2026. Nike and Atlético have been working together since 2001.

Ours is a long-lasting and successful relationship, which began in 2001 when the US brand became the Club’s technical sponsor and began to create kits for the Rojiblancos, with the promise of innovation, creativity and quality. This new agreement will see Nike increase their backing of our men’s and women’s teams.

When the partnership with Nike began, Atlético was in the Segunda División, but earned promotion to La Liga with a first-place finish in 2001-02. They’ve been in Spain’s top league ever since, steadily climbing the table and winning La Liga championships in 2013-14 and 2020-21. They’ve also won the UEFA Europa League three times, the Copa del Rey once, and UEFA Champions League runners-up twice. They also moved into a new stadium, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, in 2017.

Having signed this renewal, we’re looking to the future with that same spirit and ambition, which have united us since the start, in the hopes that we can continue to grow and face more challenges to come, starting with the Club World Cup in the USA this summer and the upcoming inauguration of the Ciudad del Deporte.

According to ESPN, “Atlético and Nike are preparing something ‘special’ next season to mark the 25th anniversary of their collaboration.”

The Nike kits going forward will feature the retro Atlético crest that 88.68% fans voted to restore in June 2023.
