It’s been a busy week for the Penticton Vees, with their Western Hockey League expansion draft and prospects draft smack in the middle of their BCHL playoff series against the Brooks Bandits. But in the midst of all of that, the Vees found time to make an announcement about their visual identity going forward.
For their transition to major junior hockey in the 2025-26 season, the Vees announced via their social media channels this week that they’ll be tweaking their colour palette. Gone is their royal blue and black colour scheme from their BCHL days, replaced with navy blue and light blue.
The Vees last redesigned their logo in 2022. The structure of that logo remains the same — a large V over a maple leaf, with a banner across reading “VEES” — but the colours will change.
The version for a light background has both the V and the maple leaf in navy blue, with outlines in two shades of light blue and a white “VEES” banner with navy blue lettering.

The version for dark backgrounds, meanwhile, retains the navy blue V and the light blue outlines, but flips the colours on the maple leaf and the banner.

There’s still no indication what the Vees’ uniforms will look like when they take the ice in the WHL.
The Penticton WHL franchise will be owned and operated by Graham Fraser, who has owned the Vees since June 2008. Other partners in the ownership group include current Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele, former New York Rangers goalie Mike Richter, and several other Penticton business leaders. Current president, general manager and head coach Fred Harbinson will continue in those roles through the transition to the WHL.
The Vees were first founded in 1961, and initially shared a name with the local senior hockey team. Both teams were named for the varieties of peaches grown in the Okanagan Valley: Veteren, valiant and verdette. The junior team changed its name a few times over the years — it was at various times known as the Broncos, the Knights and the Panthers — but settled back on the Vees moniker in 2004.
The Vees will join the WHL’s B.C. Division and Western Conference when they take the ice next season.
