The Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League are dipping into their past for the inspiration for their new road jersey, which they’ll officially launch next week.
The Elks have been teasing the new jerseys on their social media channels for about a week now. And while they haven’t given fans a full view of the uniform, a lot of the details can be pieced together from the pictures they have posted.
The new road jersey will have a white base and feature the team’s Double-E logo on the sleeves, surrounding by a classic striping pattern that harkens back to the team’s jerseys from the 1970s, ’80s and early ’90s. The pattern includes two gold stripes inside two green stripes.
After wearing one-colour numbers since 2021, the numbers on the new jerseys will be green with gold outlines. “EDMONTON” is spelled out across the chest, above the front numbers. Names on the back are set in a green block font.

The Elks have been teasing the new jerseys by posting photos of team legends like Damon Allen, Henry “Gizmo” Williams, and Willie Pless wearing similar jerseys in the past.

In all, the new jerseys align with the approach that new Elks owner Larry Thompson seemed to set out in August 2024 when he became the team’s first-ever private owner. The former owner of Thompson Brothers Construction in Edmonton and lifelong fan of the team said during a press conference at the time that the classic Double-E logo would drive the team’s branding efforts going forward.
In an interview with TSN’s Ryan Rishaug after the press conference, Thompson said, “The Double E is not a change from anything. The team is still going to be the Elks. We’re going to focus on the Double E more in the future.”
“So Elks likely will remain, but the Double E more likely is the focus of the branding and such?” Rishaug asked. Thompson replied, “Correct, yeah.”

Official New Era sideline gear for the 2025 CFL season still prominently features the Elks logo that was introduced in June 2021 and remains in the team’s portfolio as a secondary logo. It’s likely that design and production on the gear began before the Double-E became the team’s primary logo and a new wordmark was introduced.

The jerseys will officially be launched the evening of Thursday, June 5, at Midway Music Hall in Edmonton. Fans at the free, all-ages event will also have the chance to win prizes and get player autographs.
The Elks wore the current version of their road jerseys during their preseason game in Calgary on Saturday, May 24.

There’s been no indication of a new matching home green jersey in time for the 2025 season. Elks players have been wearing the team’s alternate jersey — introduced in June 2024 ahead of their 75th anniversary season — almost exclusively in promotional material leading up to the new season.
UPDATE (May 31, 2025): The RSVP page for the jersey launch event on the Elks’ website now says that both new home and away jerseys will be unveiled on June 5.
